Julie Jomphe, MD, is a practicing psychiatrist at Lanaudiรจre regional hospital (CISSS Lanaudiรจre, Quebec, Canada) since 2001. After her medical degree, Dr. Jomphe completed a residency in psychiatry at the Universitรฉ de Montrรฉal (UdeM) from 1995-2000, during which she was trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and in relationship disorders at the Albert Prevost Pavilion. In 2003, Dr. Jomphe was introduced to the DBT and received training with Dr. Marsha Linehan in 2005 and 2013.ย After having completed the intensive DBT training in 2015 and the Family Connection training with Alan Fruzzetti in 2016, she implemented the Family Connections program in French in Quebec in 2017.
While practicing psychotherapy in the DBT program for adult BPD, that she helped set up in 2013, she is also engaged in a DBT program for suicidal teenagers with emotion dysregulation deployed in 2020. In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Jomphe teaches DBT to psychiatrists and other mental health care professionals at one of the UdeM hospitals (CIUSSS Nord de lโIle de Montrรฉal, Quebec, Canada) since 2009 and to UdeM residents in psychiatry.
She is regularly involved in the production and translation of written and audiovisual material related to DBT for clinicians, patients, and the general public. For the excellence of her work on behalf of BPD patients and families, the Association des mรฉdecins psychiatres du Quรฉbec has honored her with an award in 2018.
